I'll see about getting some boards made up then.

I've been a bit busy of late - see my other post from tonight ;)

Well I've put one together.  Pictures are just uploading to picasa.

What can I say - it works. Mostly - there's a problem with the LEDs but I think that's what I get for recycling.

To be honest though I think I'm going to pass on the manufacturing of these. Because:

 1. I hate soldering DIN plugs.
 2. The 5v supply ideally benefits from a CBM cassette plug.
 C. The parts cost is very high for small numbers.
IV. The boards take a long time to etch.
 3. In a few days I'm going to be quite busy making other things...

Now I'm happy to help out in terms of burning firmware into chips etc, but the rest of it isn't appealing to me at the moment. The board files are free for anyone to use and I'll help with those in any way I can.

All in all, at the end of the day, I think that the NKC ones are better value.

Still, it was fun :)

1200XL said he'd tell my mum so I've relented.

Cost would be £30 delivered. I'd need firm orders (ooh err!) because I'm so broke right now what with ZXpander and everything - so a 50% deposit up-front (fnarr fnarr) would be welcomed.

I've discarded the dongle idea as these boards don't really suit the idea and it would increase the complexity and cost quite a bit more. If you look at the picture gallery you'll see pretty much what they'll look like. I've re-worked the board layout so there'd be less waste so it's longer but narrower.

I've sourced edge connectors which will fit the tape socket and supply the 5v so no external power supply will be needed.

The boards will be functionally identical to the NKC version and support all the same fastload schemes.

I see there's a few people here interested so if you want to go ahead PM me and I'll give you my email address, paypal acct etc.

Got an SD2IEC board that I had off sirmorris, not as complex as that, doubt it supports speed loaders and not sure if you can save to it (never tried), but basically works like a 1541 drive  :)

Will try to bring it to RCM sometime.  ;D

It's a true SD2IEC - just a hand-wired version. It has the same bootloader and firmware and will load as fast as any other. Turbo on, dude!

Sorry for not replying earlier - I didn't see your post.

Still interested. Best get some blu-rays sold on ePrey sharpish as trying not to spend any money this month due to the cock-up with my hotel booking in Munich (flights *and* hotel paid in full .. on the same pay packet = ouch!)
Sarcastic Git plc!  Also can be found on Atari-Forum.com, CPC Wiki forum, GBA / NDS hacking forum and a few other places.  I'm also one of the main Twitter personages for RCM :)
