Nope - it's going to be my last resort. It looks like the z80 has already been replaced on the affected board though. There's some slight flux residue on all the z80 pins. It's a nice job but I'm suspicious that there may be invisible damage under the chip like an open or short connection to the edge connector. I've beeped through all the lines to the z80 and ULA but that's a pretty crude test I admit. I forgot to pack my logic sniffer today so unless someone at work has a scope (don't laugh - it's been known ;¬) then lunchtime will have to be some other activity :D

<dreams> if only ...

Someone should start documenting the pods so people can build their own - they're the hard-to-obtain parts IIRC...

I finally got around to sticking the analyser on the z80. Guess what? No M1 activity. Nothing.

If I remove the DivIDE then the M1 signal is suddenly present again. So it definitely seems that the board is possibly pulling-up too hard on the signal or the extra load is just too much for the pin...

Changing z80 time I guess :)

Changing z80 time I guess :)

Fit a replacement socket, then next time it'll be easier to swap......
:)

Cheers,

Phill.
