DivIDE resets speccy :(
sirmorris:
Hi all,
I'm looking at a rubber key Speccy 48k/divide combo owned by a colleague. Pressing the button results in the machine resetting, with no DiVide splash shown. Straight to the sinclair banner, no messing. I've tried the interface on my trusty Spectrum+ and it works fine. So the problem is definitely with the original 48k which otherwise works fine.
Where should I start looking, d'you think?
Ta!

Dunno if this will help.
I seem to remember that there is a key combination that can be used to reset the DivIDE+, can't remember what it is off the top of my head maybe you need that.
Also it seems o be perticular about the filesystem on the CF, I thought the one I bought was broken cause I had the wrong type of fat on there, and it just wouldn't see anything on the card.
Another thought, is that DivIDE uses the NMI line, I seem to remember some spectrums have a dodgy Z80 that has a faulty NMI line. The solution for that of course is to swap the Z80 for a good one.
Cheers.
Phill.

Thanks Phill,
Interestingly enough the speccy in question seems to have had a z80 replacement already... I wonder if there's some problem with links from the processor to the edge connector.

Yeah, some of the older z80's didn't have the m1 line I think which the divide needs.
Also make sure you have the jumpers set correctly, the 48k and +2 use a different config

Ahhh that was it, the m1 line....
Would the 48k/+2 thing be down to the different edge connector pinout on the black +2 and +3?
Cheers
Phill.
