Raspberry Pi : SD Card problems

Hi ! :)

I have my Raspberry Pi now, but seem to be having problems booting it up with the SD Card I am using.

I have used Win32 Disk Imager to write 'Debian Sqeeze' to a 'deolux' 16 GB SDHC card. It boots and then just sits there, no login or command prompt appears.

Is it the SD Card ? Can anyone recommend an SD Card or size to use or even have one spare ? Or am I doing something else wrong ?

That is all I did Alex . . . and it worked okay - only difference is that I used a 4GB as 16GB was overkill! :(

You could check http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#SD_cards for working cards.

What class is the card?  It seems there has been some issues with higher speed cards and driver fixes are on the way.

It can be two things:

Most likely it doesn't like the SD card - it can be a bit fussy and they are trying to patch things up....

Least likely, but not unheard of, its a dodgy Pi - a couple of slipped through that I have heard of - RS/Farnell are usually quick to replace if you can prove it by using a "supported" SD card.

Hopefully, it will be the suspected SD card problem. I have ordered a 4gig one from eBay for £4, which should ( fingers crossed ) work ! It's funny, I have loads of USB Memory sticks and not enough SD Cards !  :D

As soon as I get it up and running I'll post a few photos and maybe a video. ;)

Grr ... I can't believe every single SD I have is listed as not currently compatible with the Pi ! :(

Would anyone like to trade a fully working SD for one that works ( tested ) with the Pi ? I have spent £15 on cards already.

I've got loads of 2Gb and a few 4gb but they're all Micro SD, so you'd need an adapter to use them.

Do you want to try-before-you-swap for whatever ones you've got that don't work?

I have adapters and 4gb ones would be perfect. I have two 10day old SD cards, Integral MicroSD HC Class 4 4gb and Deolux SDHC 16gb.

A " try-before-you-swap " is neat idea. I'll PM you my address ! :)
