VGA converter - anyone already evaluated this / thinking about it?

I've heard that this may be a useful addition to a collection; someone over at the Einstein forums has had some success with it. Has anyone had a play?

Ah yes... this one comes up now and again. I have one at home, and I wasn't impressed.
I couldn't get it to work with any 50Hz signal. When I pestered the manufacturer about it they said it was 60Hz input only.
However, this may have changed in recent versions (mine is about 4 years old, and the boards do contain firmware/programmable logic). ScarlettKitten reports it working well with an Atari ST.

What are you hoping to plug in to it?
I was looking at these recently to use with an MSX (loooong story) and the problem seemed to be that those units (and most others) only accept component video down to 480i at 15KHz. The MSX (and some other old machines) output 240p at 15KHz instead.

Hmm, I wasn't really thinking of any machine in particular but a flat screen is much more convenient than the hulking great Amstrad thing I use with Beebs, Einsteins, CPCs etc..
Doesn't sound too promising then ...

Seems not - I could be wrong though. I decided not to buy one in the end so haven't actually tried it myself.
The ones I've seen that are known to work with 240p are very expensive. :-(
