This is an announcement to let people know that we WILL NOT provide you with ROMS or EMULATORS if you do wish to enter into these competitions. Please do not post direct links in here - if you do wish to swap ROMS etc please do so via PM or EMAIL - RCM will not tolerate any sort of piracy talk on here and users will be warned if they break this simple rule.
This is to cover RCM and its members - we do not wish to be shut down just because the odd ROM pops up on here!

Some emulators are legal. For example, Winape. They have permission from Amstrad/Locomotive software to distribute their ROMS with the emulator.
You still have to be careful.....

Yeah - you can also use WinUAE legally if you still own an Amiga . . . It will always be a very grey area unfortunately!

Anyone participating in these competitions should be Internet savvy enough to find their own emulators and (if necessary) roms too... If they're not they shouldn't be allowed to enter! 😉
I don't think any emus are illegal btw, only the roms...

Slight correction!
You can use WinUAE if you like, freely, but to actually use it, you need have Kickstart ROM images.
These can be obtained by extracting them from a real Amiga or by buying them from a legit source (such as Cloanto's Amiga Forever emulation disks)
That is what I meant! - i personally do own several amigas and cloanto's amiga forever so it isnt really a problem for me.
Thanks for the clarification though guys!

Yeah! I have Amiga Forever too .... what do you think of it?
Some people say it's not worth the money, because the Kickstart ROM images and emulators are downloadable off the net, but I liked it becuase of the DVDs with the Commodore footage.
Totally agree - it is a nice collection too - and it does support cloanto who are still supporting the amiga . . . 🙂
I still miss the amiga days to be honest - gotta be one of my favourite machines!

www.worldofspectrum.org has many ZX Spectrum emulators, all of the emulators are licensed by Amstrad, who bought the Sinclair Spectrum brand.
I took my GP2X to a games industry conference at a university. It offended a lot of industry suits but games programmers thought it was great. All i did was play public domain versions of homebrew gp2x games based on old C64 games on a big screen and some of the finance types got really upset. They hated it. they dont like open source and emulation even less.
beware the truth unless its yours
For what it's worth, the Vectrex ROMs are legal now.
That means 31 free Vectrex games. (However they suffer a bit in the conversion from vector to raster). You simply won't get those milky looking vector graphics.
My other car is a Vic Viper.
