Hi all
I have just purchased a oric 1 computer but when I plug it in I get a multicoloured screen for a few seconds then it boots up to the normal screen then sometimes it locks up so have to power off and on again to get it to work again then while testing the keyboard sometimes I get a coloured line across some of the text so the first thing I have done is test the power supply which is the correct oric one but it says 9v output but when I test it with a multimeter it is outputting 12v is this correct if it is then I can start investigating further.

That's normal for linear power supplies when you are measuring without any load connected. When the Oric is connected it will drag the voltage down to around 9V, even then it isn't critical as it goes straight into a voltage regulator that converts it to 5V and dumps the rest of the energy as heat.

I'd take a look at the solder joints on the power input jack, they have often cracked over the years so the slightest movement can cause issues.
